What is your book about and what genre are you writing in?

I love anything paranormal and if you add romance, the possibilities are endless. Nothing loves the way an immortal does. They have beauty, and passion that could move a mountain to get to their mate.

Shannon is about a young woman who lives a wonderful normal life in South Beach, except for her nightmares. They started when she was young and have haunted her nights every since. In her nightmares she leads the battle between good and evil. Her warriors are vampires and werewolves. Beside her is the love of her life. A sandy haired man who she met when the nightmares started. As she grew older, she knew her love for Simon was real and some day she would meet him.

She was adopted and never knew her real family. Everything changes quickly when her step parents are brutally murdered. She finds out her best friend, Caitlyn, is a werewolf and Caitlyns dad, which she looked at as a father figure in her life, is the alpha of the pack. The turmoil continues to escalate for her when her uncle Damon comes into her life. He holds the key to her past and her future. Damon is the vampire lord of Europe, and he comes from another time dimension named Angelis. A medieval place controlled by the Royals. A race of true vampires with power and magic this world has never seen.

In the first book of the series Shannon grows and learns to cope with her new life. She learns  who she is and what the Fates have planned for her. She meets her mate and tries to understand the rules the immortal race lives by. The essence of her true parents becomes a part of her when she touches their picture and she finally feels a parent’s love. Her saving grace in all of this is the fact that she worked for Navy Intel during her military life and she was very good at killing her targets.

What inspired you to write your first book?

I have always loved to write, but I never took the time to do so until I retired. My oldest granddaughter and I have always had a close bond. We have spent hours talking about her challenges as she matured and I have always tried to help her understand the world. That being said, Damon and Shanon’s relationship is similar. Shannon struggles to grow and figure out her life. Damon is always a step ahead and tries to lead her in the right direction to discover her true life.

What would you say makes your vampires unique to the paranormal genre?

My vampires have powers that come from their heritage as true Royal vampires. They move about in daylight and slip time to travel. I try to make them believable as a family unit. Whenever Shannon tries to get away with something, Damon always knows. They have werewolves as family members, and fight side by side. And then there’s Shamn Neeb. The powerful Shaman that has been with Damon’s family for centuries. A counter balance between good and evil.

What do you like about your main vampire character?

I love Shannon because of her fight to get it right. She’s the strongest and most powerful immortal to ever exist, but she hasn’t learnt everything. She sees life as right or wrong. She looks at Damon as just a man and loves his human side. Her other uncle, Keegan, who is Caitlyn dad, is still a father figure. It doesn’t matter that he’s the alpha for several thousand werewolves. He’s still Keegan, and they have hot chocolate together and laugh about life.

Is there one particular thing your vampires can do or vampire myth that you enjoyed creating for this series?

I really enjoyed the Angelis side of the story. A medieval dimension, the Royals. Who are they and where did they come from? And what is Shaman Neebs story?

As my eyes closed and I took my last breath, I heard footsteps approaching…

I am Conner O’Callaghan, the oldest alpha werewolf and a direct descendant of the original Irish pack.  I was born in the County Offaly, along the River Shannon, in the year 1663.  This was when the alpha leader, Aedan MacConin bit me and I turned into a werewolf.

I am an immortal.

Callidora was my loving vampire mate, an ancient Greek who lived on Crete in 1158 AD.  She came from another time dimension named Angelis, with her vampire brother, Damon.  They were forced to leave their homeland by their power-hungry uncle, Kyran.  The warlock, Shaman Neeb, slid time and transported them to our time dimension.  He saved their lives and royal bloodline.  In this dimension, they have the power of gods.  Damon became my best friend in later years, along with Shaman Neeb; Damon was never far from his sister.

Callidora and I broke all the rules by creating a new breed of immortal.  We named our daughter Shannon, after the river I played in when I was a boy in Ireland.  She was the impossible miracle that came from our love.  A werewolf and vampire cannot produce a child together, but because Callidora was from another dimension, we were so much more than normal.

Shannon was a beautiful baby, but she did not exhibit any signs or scent of being immortal and could pass for a human in every way.  We knew Shannon was special…signs or not… and that someday she would become the strongest immortal alive.  However, at what age she would change from human to Angelian, we did not know.  We knew it would happen when she needed her powers.

By creating this new species, we knew we would pay with our lives.  The wolves and vampires have always followed the unspoken rule to kill the breeders and offspring, thus ending the cycle of life for those they feared or hated.  The slaughter of my village started at midnight, as the immortals attacked in full force and killed at will.  The slayers that massacred my pack were a mix of vampires and wolves, which would prevent the blame from falling on one race.  Cries of death carried into the night as the bloodbath raged.  The vampires and wolves were fighting together to end Shannon’s life as we all fought back, but we were outnumbered ten to one.

As my last breaths came and I felt my heart beating its last few beats, I knew my life would soon be over.  As I lay dying, I knew Damon felt the cries from Callidora as we fought for our daughter’s life.  As my eyes closed and I took my last breath, I heard footsteps approaching…

This is Shannon’s story… Callidora and I will never leave her side.

The Nightmare

I stood in the corner of my adoptive parents’ bedroom.  I felt very strange as I looked around.  I was wearing my navy camouflage!  On my hips rested my pair of .45s and I held my scoped AR tightly in my hands.  Was I back in Afghanistan?  No, I could feel the cool breeze blowing through the windows of their Florida home as Mike and Mary Murphy slept calmly.  I looked at their clock.  It was close to midnight when Mike woke up suddenly to the sound of heavy footsteps coming up the stairs.  He turned on the light and reached for his glasses as the bedroom door burst open.  There, standing in the doorway, were two large men with glowing red eyes with a deadly look about them.  I screamed as Mike reached for Mary and tried to pull her close; a bullet blasted the back half of her head onto her pillow.  I dropped to my knees as I watched helplessly as a second bullet blew through Mike’s head.  He fell against the headboard of their bed, silently.  Death came quickly and, once again, the night was silent.  I cried at the loss of the only parents I have ever known.

The half-morphed wolves smiled at one another as they shifted back to their human form.  The silver-haired man named Angelo spoke, “She’s not here, Lucas.  I didn’t think killing her would be this easy.  The Assembly will be pissed if they hear she got away from us.”

Lucas, big and mean, was cursing as he looked at the bed.  “We need to locate her quickly.  I’m not sending in a report saying we failed this.  The Assembly will have our heads if we screw this up.”

I followed them in spirit, if not in form, down the stairs as they left the house quickly and jumped into their car.  I could hear the sirens coming.  I was sitting in the back seat of their car as Lucas pulled out a dossier.  “Let’s find out more about this freak.  It says here, she’s about 5’9”, with curly auburn hair and emerald green eyes.”  Angelo snapped, “We already know that.  What else does it say?”  Lucas continued, “She’s supposed to be an expert in martial arts, with a quick temper and an attitude to match.  She spent three years in Navy Intelligence and was one of their best agents.  Her best friend is a little blonde named Caitlyn.”

“This is a bunch of bullshit, Lucas.  Time to call our informant.  We’ll find this freak and kill the bitch, and then we will get a bonus, instead of losing our heads.”

I woke up angry, tears flowing like a waterfall; heartbroken knowing I had just witnessed my adoptive parents’ murder.  But I was in full camo and ready for battle.  Why?

Cutting a cool eye at him, she smiled factiously.  “I got that.”  Watching as his gloved hands balled into fists, Casey decided she’d hit a nerve.  Well good!  He had no right to treat her as if she were a silly child.  “Do you always get your way, Mr. Harrison?”  The guileless smirk she sent him hit another nerve.  Before she could retreat, he was in front of her, snatching her close.  The wry grin he offered was unsettling, to say the least, as were his hands on her arms.  Her breasts through the thin linen of the borrowed shirt brushed his vest bringing her nipples to taut peeks of arousal.  She understood arousal or she was learning fast.  This man could teach a woman a thing or two about arousal.

“I see to it I get my way, Miss St. Clair, otherwise, I’m dead.”  Flat eyes registered her reaction, which was to squirm, trying desperately to deny the moistness between her legs.  What would his lips feel like on her mouth?  Would his hands brand her with their heat?

Without warning, he yanked her up to her toes, covering her mouth with his.  Panicked, she shoved at his chest and the solid wall of muscle.  She could smell leather and citrus.  The spicy flavor of his cigar still lingered on his tongue as he brushed his mouth across her lips.  Nudging her to open for him, he delved inside to explore the taste of her.  A low growl rose from somewhere deep in his chest.  She couldn’t fathom the reason she slid her fingers up his chest to the apex of his throat and reveled in the reverberation of his pleasure in the kiss.  A feeling she’d never known before.  What would he do next?  She wanted him to show her.  Leaving her mouth, his lips traveled out, nibbling on her earlobe before trailing wet kisses down her neck.  Gripping her tight, so their bodies were one, he sucked at the tender skin near her collarbone.  The sensation sent the heat spiraling into her core.  A soft gasp left her lips as he bit, nuzzling the tender flesh of her shoulder, marking her as his.  Shoving the shirt aside, he lingered over her shoulder, groaning when she arched toward his attention.  Never in her wildest dreams had she found pleasure like this.  Was this what the girls at St. Clair’s meant when the talked of gaining pleasure from a man’s touch?  As quickly as the assault on her passion had commenced, it ceased.

My Vampire Lover – John Mitchell (Aidan Turner)

If you’re like me, your first encounter with the actor Aidan Turner was when you saw him on Being Human BBC as the vampire, John Mitchell. Today I thought I’d look up info on his character, John Mitchell and share it with you, as well as some pictures. Enjoy!

John Mitchell (Aidan Turner) is a 117-year-old vampire (born on 29 July 1893) with the appearance of a young man in his twenties. He had chosen to give up drinking blood and preying on humans, attempting instead (insofar as it is possible) to become human, again. Like other vampires, Mitchell has enhanced strength and sense of smell, and his eyes turn completely dark when he had blood lust or when he wills it; though it appears that he is slightly weaker when he abstained from drinking blood, he could survive without it. His image cannot be captured on film and he had no reflection in mirrors. Although he can survive daylight, his eyes are overly sensitive to natural light, prompting him often to wear sunglasses outside in the daytime. He often wears dark clothing, rings and fingerless gloves. Publicly quiet and calm, he works as a hospital cleaner (a deliberate choice, as it is a low-status, low profile job, which enables him to live quietly with the minimum of commitments or chances of exposure). Mitchell is always referred to by his surname by his friends.

Born in 1893 and Irish by birth, Mitchell fought as a young soldier in World War I, when he was originally recruited as a vampire by William Herrick. He encountered Herrick after a battle, stumbled upon him and several other vampires who were picking through piles of bodies for anyone living to feed on. Mitchell agreed to feed Herrick and become a vampire in exchange for Herrick leaving the rest of his men alone. He rejoined his regiment, hoping that no one had realized that he has changed, but became so hungry that he stole poison from the medical supplies, killed one of his friends, and drained his blood before deserting the army and running away. At some later point, he rejoined Herrick and the vampire community, accepting his new vampire nature.

In his early years as a vampire (and before his conscience was reawakened), Mitchell was quite a hero within the vampire community, who still circulate stories of his exploits amongst themselves. These seem to be a cause of great guilt for Mitchell who has asked Herrick to stop the retelling of the stories as he would prefer to be forgotten.[11] At several points, he has faced a conflict of emotions as he debated whether to “convert” people dying around him to prevent their deaths. In the 1960s, Herrick gave Mitchell the opportunity to kill a young girl that they had lured into their car. Mitchell showed guilt and anger at the easiness of the kill and let her go. He told Herrick that she had escaped, prompting the suspicious Herrick to say that he would keep a closer eye on Mitchell.[8] Mitchell has attempted several times to abstain from drinking blood (one attempt was a New Year resolution for 2000, with the aid of a fellow vampire called Carl). At this time, Mitchell showed an extreme addiction to blood, as well as heightened aggression, lack of control and extreme panic due to blood withdrawal.

316003_2444837525286_1382311656_4729707_695181158_nMitchell’s reluctant rescue of the werewolf George from a squad of fellow vampires, and the subsequent development of their friendship, further awakens his conscience, and he eventually opts to drift away from the vampire group in Bristol and to join George in living quietly. After “converting” Lauren into a vampire (as covered in both the pilot episode and Series One Episode 1), Mitchell, infuriated at himself, decides to fully give up the blood and to attempt “being human” once more. He continues to take care of George, particularly around the full moon when George transforms.

In episode 3 of Series 2, Mitchell has become the new “king” of the vampire group in Bristol, hiding evidence of their feedings, recreating their human front and intending to wean them off blood, although his activities are hampered by such problems as Ivan–his oldest apparent “recruit”–being unable to completely forsake blood after so long, forcing him to allow Ivan to feed in secret while maintaining his public front. After the deaths of his vampire group by an explosion at the funeral parlor, subsequently receiving confirmation that they have been betrayed by the coroner despite a deal he had made, Mitchell realizes that he has wasted his time trying to hide his blood lust and goes on a frenzy with Ivan’s widow Daisy. Paying a last visit to George and Annie, he briefly seems to return to normal when warning George to stay away from cities in future before returning to his more arrogant, blood-crazed ways. A confrontation with a priest while searching for Lucy reminds him that George saw him as a good man when he was injured by Herrick, and reveals Lucy’s connection to the organisation that seeks to “cure” George and Annie. Finding the organisation’s headquarters, Mitchell confronts Lucy, countering her claims that he and his kind are evil with both the theological argument that God made them just as he made mankind and by pointing out that she killed despite having a choice, but he nevertheless refuses to kill her or Kemp. He later shows evident grief when Lucy is killed by Kemp.

At the start of Series 3, Mitchell enters Purgatory to rescue Annie (following a terminally ill patient at the hospital where George and Nina now work through the Door after his demise). Although his mission is successful, he also learns that the time and date of his death have been confirmed, and he would be killed by a werewolf at some unspecified (but apparently not-too-distant) future date. While claiming to Annie that he has not believed a word of what he heard, Mitchell is in fact increasingly haunted by both the “prophecy” of his death and by the continued police hunt for the person responsible for the “Box Tunnel Twenty” massacre. He rejects an offer to depart Britain to live with the vampire “Old Ones”, commenting during a talk with permanently teenage vampire Adam that his friends help him remain clean as their goodness inspires him by forcing him to think about the disappointment they would feel if he were to succumb to his thirst.

After a confrontation with vampire “fan” Graham, Mitchell tries to tell Annie the truth about the massacre, but Annie simply tells him that whatever he had to tell her does not matter, assuring him that all she wants is the man he is now and that what he had done in the past does not matter compared to what he has done for her and George. The two finally admit their love for each other and begin a romantic relationship. Although Annie tries to find ways for their relationship to become physical at first, Mitchell eventually admits that sex has always been about violence rather than love with him, and suggests that their “pure” relationship can be better than a sexual relationship.

Mitchell has a tense relationship with werewolf vampire-hunter McNair due to Mitchell’s concerns regarding the “prophecy” of his death (despite having claimed to Annie that he does not believe in fate). He reaches a certain understanding with McNair once they work together to save George and Nina from a group of vampires, although McNair still feels that Mitchell’s sins will catch up to him eventually. When Herrick returns to life, Mitchell initially attempts to stake him–particularly after Cara stakes herself before being able to tell Mitchell how she and Daisy have brought Herrick back. He is convinced by George to let Herrick live on the grounds that he deserves the same chances everyone had given Mitchell.

When Annie learns about Mitchell’s role in the massacre, she tearfully convinces him to allow himself to be arrested. Mitchell goes along with it to prove his love for her, even as he tries to escape being processed due to the risks if his true nature is exposed. Although Herrick releases Mitchell–revealing in the process that his resurrection was aided by the fact that he was torn apart rather than just being staked–Mitchell finally stakes Herrick when he concludes that he has seen and done enough in his life.

On hearing the news that another man has been framed for the Box Tunnel Twenty massacre, Mitchell recognizes that other vampires has set up that frame, and will call in a favor from him later. Sickened by his ultimate inability to escape his past, Mitchell decides that he wants to free his friends of the taint he has brought to their lives. He returns to Honolulu Heights to ask George to kill him–not realizing that he is being followed by Wyndham, one of the Old Ones. George is initially reluctant to carry out Mitchell’s wishes, but once Wyndham has spelled out his plans to use Mitchell as an “attack dog”, George stakes Mitchell in order to save him from this final abuse. George’s last words to Mitchell are, “I’m doing this because I love you,” to which a grateful Mitchell responds, “I know,” before he dies.
